Celebrating Diversity in the Workplace

I would like to see the company/university do more to celebrate diversity in and outside of the office.  First let me clarify what I mean by diversity.  I don't mean just race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, although variances in those entities should definitely be celebrated; diversity truly just means inclusion.  We should embrace differences in background, throught-processes, ideas, strategies, approaches to our daily work, attitudes, etc.  When we can "come to the table" with business partners and team members, and not only respect the differences that others bring but look forward to those differences, it makes for better business and adds to the "bottom-line".  PERIOD.

I agree that diversity in philosophy is critcal to bussiness
development and can accelerate solution finding endeavors to all areas of
bussiness (process issues, marketing ideas, cost controlls, etc.)Therefore
focusing on the positves that others ideas can bring to the team and help not
only your company grow but you to grow as an indivdual shoud be embraced with
out any bias.

I DO AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS WRITER, DIVERSITY SHOULD BE WIDE SPREAD AND NOT
ONLY THAT IT SHOULD BE EXPANTIATED AND LECTURED TO THOSE WHO ARE IGNORANT OF IT,
THIS WULD NOT ONLY BRING ABOUT DEVELOPMENT BUT ERADICATE ECONOMIC SET BACK.

The issue of diversity is an interesting subject matter, given its impact on the
human dignity. While scholars continue to make the arguments on why it is
important to celebrate diversity, especially when it comes to talent management
and cultural implications, there are individuals who still seem to not
appreciate the tremendous gifts diversity brings to society through
organizations, whether through ethnicity, talent, race, gender, or physicality.
Indeed, it is no doubt that diversity should be celebrated at all fronts of
human interaction.

I am in agreement with the concept of Diversity and inclusiveness, especially in
the office and in the schools. It has proven to eradicate hidden questions and
agendas as commented by the previous writer. Diversity is a good approach to
teams and group efforts.

I do not see how focusing on diversity does anything but single out individual
needs and continually remind people that we are all different, and therefore no
team “value” will ever make any one on the team 100% happy.

Diversity is
the wedge that divides teams up into a collection of individuals needs and
builds an us-verse-them mentality when defining goals, purposes, and means of
execution. Teams are made up of people that are stronger because they put aside
their individual needs and accept that they are all part of a share experience
a.k.a. a team, and are willing to work together for a single purpose despite of
their differences.

I agree that " diversity truly just means inclusion." And inclusion also indicates a willingness to hear and understand the
hidden questions and agenda's, but without bias.
